Default Can I have too much salt in my pool?

So, the pool installer has just finally finished the last stage of our fiberglass install. They dumped Bioguard Mineral Springs in and started the SWGC. I tested with the Taylor K-1766 kit and found the salt level to be 4400. I have read that 3400 is ideal. I am curious whether this will affect any of my equipment. We haven't closed the pool yet, but will within the next month or so.

The Intellichlor is built to protect itself from high salt so it will shut down past 4500 ppm. Since I take it the unit did not go into alarm, it should be ok.

Also, it can take some time for the salt to full mix so you might want to measure again in a couple of days.

Thanks for the response. The Intellichlor did not shut down, but the Red "low salt" light was on briefly a couple of days ago. It has since changed to Green, indicating the salt level is okay. I wanted to be sure of my levels, so I have taken the advice of the forum and used the Taylor testing kits.
