Default New Hayward pump replacing old Waterway, cannot connect hoses

Hello everyone! My old Waterway pump went out, so I had to buy a new pump (Hayward SP1580X15). It came in today and the hoses I had hooked up to the old pump are not compatible with the new pump. I'm pretty sure that I need Hayward SPX1091Z7 to hook up the hose from the skimmer to the new pump because of the inner threads (I still have my O-clamp).

The hose from the sand filter is really stiff and used to sit up against the vertical intake of the old pump and a large plastic piece screwed it down on top of the opening, which had external threads. I am not able to find an adapter to change this pump from internal threading to external threading to hook up the sand filter hose. Has anyone else had this problem or know what part I need to get?

Sounds like you just need to some fittings to adapt your current hoses to the new pump. Most pools use 1.5" PVC, either hard PVC or flexible TigerFlex. A mistake made by pool installers all over is to treat TigerFlex as hose, and use internal fittings. This is guaranteed to leak. External Schedule 40 glue-on fittings, just like you use on the hard PVC, are correct. There are threaded adapters that will fit into your pump (be sure to use teflon tape for the threads). Some can be glued on to PVC. Others are good for going inside pool hoses (not the same as TigerFlex).

There are simple "double-male" adapters that will screw into the pump and leave you with external threads. A lot of this stuff is available at your local Home Depot/Lowes but also at pool stores.
