14 ft. x 4' round AG vinyl pool; 6% bleach; some dichlor shock, some trichlor tabs; Dry acid; Muriatic acid; 1 speed Intex SF15110 SAND filter/pump; 6-8 hrs; Taylor K2006; utility water; no covers yet
If you drain the pool for any length of time, then your liner more than likely will have to be replaced. It is the pressure of the water that holds it stretched taut and in place, and when you let it dry out, it tends to shrink and then not stretch again....

If it is an Intex brand with the metal tube framework, the instructions state that you can drain, clean, and thoroughly dry the liner for storage. Suggestions elsewhere here are that you should put the liner in a sealed container, to keep the critters out, and store it in a cool dry place.
15' round 4.8K gal Intex AG pool; Intex 633 pump with twin canisters (2500 gph main filtering); Unicel 5315 filter cartridges; Intex 637 pump w/o filter (1000 gph heater circulation); 4hrs; K-2006; utility water; PF:24
When I replied to this post earlier, I had in mind a different type of pool/liner set up. If the instructions for your pool state that it is okay to drain, then by all means you should be able to safely do so. Sorry for the mixup....
Thank you for the responses and clarification.
I have decided to drain it and store it since the directions in the manual do indicate that it is ok to do so. This was our first pool and was purchased as a test run to see if we wanted to invest in a larger pool in the future. We have decided to get a larger pool next year, so even if draining and storing this one does compromise its integrity, it won't be any great loss.
I have learned soooo much on this forum and have discovered owning a pool can be manageable and satisfying. Thanks to everyone for their contributions to my pool education!
