Default Heater // when I shut off the pump...

When I shut off the pump, does the heater go off? I can only assume that it does in this day and age. It is a Brand New Hayward 100k heater. Thanks

Depends on the heater. Some turn off as soon as the water flow stops, some have what is called a 'fireman's switch' which delays the pump turnoff until the heater has cooled down or turns off the heater about 20 minutes before the pump timeclock turns the pump off. Many of the newer heaters claim that they don't need a fireman's switch because they can dissapate the heat in the exchanger efficiently when the pump is off. Check your users manual.
