Hi,
Until Ben completes your registration, this is the only forum you can post question in--but once he completes it, he'll move your post to the equipment section where it belongs.
Welcome to the forum!

What I have is a 2hp Hayward Northstar pump that will need a new motor. It seems oversized and is a energy hog. I can't find a variable speed motor that will work as a replacement but would like to get a 2 speed. I will probably keep my single speed timer and use a toggle switch for high when needed. Is there anything else I need to consider like flow to skimmers or priming on startup? just looking for advice or ideas, thanks.
What size is your pool?
16k gallon. I submitted my pool chart, did it not go through? Thanks

15x24 kidney 8K* gal AG concrete pool; Chlorine hand fed; Hayward pro grid cf48 DE filter; Hayward northstar 2hp 1 speed pump; 8 hrs; fountain or waterfall; Hth 5 way drops; well; summer: none; winter: none; ; PF:15
Note the correction in your gallons!
A 2 HP pump is way, way too big for your pool. You probably want something like this:

You want the 1HP pump, and you'll want to leave it on low most of the time.
