Default Ok, so there's all this DE sediment in my pool, put in by mistake....

by the pool guy before I knew any better ( turns out I have cartridge filters, not DE filters ). Pool guy was not a regular but only hired to clean up the green slime pit at the house I just bought. He did a great job but used DE when he wasn't supposed to, and added even more on a followup visit.

New cartidges on the way but in the meantime, how do I remove all this sediment? I've stirred it up several times hoping to filter it out but it keeps returning. I guess it simply passes right through cartridge and back into the pool.

Rent a water pump and try to vacuum it out? Probably going to lose a lot of water in the process but I don't see another option.

With a 2 HP pump, it's probably being drive through the cartridges and back into the pool, as you suspect. Is your pressure rising at all? If so, then it is slowly being filtered out, and you may just need to continue to clean the carts and give it some time. If not, then vac'ing to waste is probably your only option.
