Algae in a pool will not cause you to lose water. You apparently have a leak somewhere.
Prolly a dumb question, but i have to ask. If your water is bad and making your filter work over time, will it leak? I am losing water somewhere, but dont know where. My AC drain is right by my pump so ofcourse the ground is wet. My pool is smoked with algae right now, working in that, but losing water. Was lising water a minth ago and then it quit. Now ita doung it again. Thanks.

I've noticed the body of my filter will expand slightly when I start up the pump. So I guess its entirely possible that increased pressure could cause water to leak past a seal.
