    Default On Ground Pools

We live in upstate NY and are looking for an on-ground pool.

Are there any online dealers that you would recommend?

    Many thanks.

I've found various online dealers for on-ground pools, but don't have any idea regarding who is reliable, offers quality products, etc.

Is there any place to get objective customer feedback for on-ground pools?

Not that I know of -- moderately satisfied customers are not motivated to go post 'attaboys'; moderately dissatisfied customers are motivated to seek revenge. Some sites, like Amazon, which have a highly integrated rating process, and a huge pool of repeat customers can acquire what seem to be meaningful reviews and ratings.

But pool sales are so differentiated that that's almost impossible. To get what you want, Consumer's Reports would have to tackle the problem, and they generally avoid relatively low volume, highly differentiated products like AG pools.

I recently replaced my AG and I went with the pool that my local mom and pop pool store sell. (They don't stock it; had to be ordered. It was made by Atlantic Pools -- Concorde model if I remember correctly.) I have dealt with that store for equipment, etc. for years and I know they are good people. Also, by buying locally, if there was a problem of some sort with the pool, I had someplace to go for help. If I ordered online myself and there was a problem, it would be up to me to chase down missing or defective parts, etc. That may be something else to consider. Hope this helps you some.
