Default Portable home made vacuum HELP! PICS INCLUDED

Hello guys I'm new here! I joined because I could really use some help regarding vacuuming my... Not so ordinary pool.

To start my pool doesn't have a normal pool skimmer so I can't hook up a vacuum. I have a pond/pool. It looks like a pond but it's fully chlorinated and connected to a filter. But I don't have a way too hook up my vacuum.

I have a spare filter, pump and vacuum peice. I'm wondering I there is any way to hook these up so I can vacuum. I have tried battery operated vacuums and they suck.

IF YOU NEED MORE INFO OR MORE PICS PLEASE ASK

    I have two thoughts.

    1. If the pump is very powerful it might collapse the flex pvc on the suction side since that would be the only input
    2. With only one input, it would be pretty dangerous if it came in contact with a person.

I'd recommend plumbing a Jandy valve and connector for the vacuum hose onto your existing suction side of the plumbing. That way you can split the suction between the vacuum line and your existing drain.

    Hi Antman,

That's a beautiful pool you have there. A local pool store has these vacuums for sale. It sounds as if you have all the components needed to put one of these together. Here is a link that may spark your ingenuity. Looks like they used pvc pipe. Good luck.

Hey guys I still seem to be having a problem getting it going.

I am currently connecting the vacuum to the left side of the pump (closest to the basket)

I am than connecting a tube from the top of the pump into the bottom of the filter

I also connected a tube from the bottom of the filter into the pool for the clean water to come out and back into the pool.

Nothing seems to happen once I plug the pump into power. Is this wrong? How should I connect all of this?

Nothing happens, or you get no water flow (i.e. is the motor running dry)? If the motor is running, you can try priming the pump manually by filling the basket with water before turning it on.

There's no water flow. My pump turns on and there's just nothing. No suction. Nothing.

If I prime it, it almost DRINKS the water and it all dissapears.

This happens with BOTH PUMPS and filters. I must be doing something wrong.
