Default To Shock or not to Shock

I'm a new pool owner (about 2-3 weeks) and have Ben's test kit. I use BBB. My water is crystal clear & nicely balanced except for needing a tad more stabilizer. I run the full battery of tests once a week. For the past two weeks my CC has been 0.5 (or less). Given that I have more or less no combined chlorine, do I still need to shock my pool? Or do I wait until I see CC of 1.0 or greater? Thanks!

    Sartail,

Max's clever response is solid advice in response to a very good question. It is very common to see .5CC every time you run the test and, yes, you should ignore it 'til it gets to 1.......then shock.

KurtV indicated in a similar post that he had read that you add one more drop to validate your true reading (which means you would go to zeroCC) and that makes sense to me.
