    Default Pool filter problem

My name is Bill, I have an a/g 24 ' pool. I am running a brand new Hayward x stream 100 sf filter. My problem involves dirt returning to the pool while or after vacuuming. I has this problem after I installed the filter in May buy seemed to go away. Question is what would cause this sort of " bypass" ? Could air have any effect on the filter operation? My vacuum hose may not seal 100% at the inlet. Could this have any effect on filter operation? How often should I clean this cartridge? Every time for last few weeks I vacuum the pool only to find the floor completely covered the next day. Thanks bill

    How big is your pump?

How much is "completely covered the next day?" It is pretty common for some dirt to get stirred up into suspension while you are vacuuming. Then, once the water quiets down, the dirt resettles back on the floor. I see this in my own pool. The dirt wants to resettle in the lines created by taping the foam pad together that is underneath the liner. Do you think this could be what is happening in your pool?

1 hp Hayward pump , anyway had this problem before when I first brought this fIlter online in may. Only lasted a few days and the pool cleaned up nicely. Had a leak in the liner and took a while to fix resulting in lots of dirt on the bottom. Water is clear and balanced. Should I stop and clean filter in the middle of vacuuming so the filter isn't used up until this heavy dirt is gone or is a possible air leak any thing to do with it

I'm going to post a cartridge filter cleaning guide, today, and I'll put a link in here when I do.

Went home and vacuumed the pool a quarter at a time, cleaning the filter quarterly. Still stirred up the pool and I will check later today to see if there is any improvement. May still be a three day process or so
