Default Went On Vacation For 11 Days...

and came back with 8ppm FC and crystal clear water!

with my CYA around 110-120 i loose about 2-3ppm FC in a 24 hour period ( this is in central FL with full sun exposure on the pool all day ) so i dosed up to around 30ppm FC the morning we left assuming i would be at or near 0ppm FC when i came home.

i also put one trichlor puck in a floater and adjusted the floater to its lowest setting to help keep a little FC in while we were away.

to my suprise i came home to 8ppm FC and 0 CC.

since i switched to BBB the ONLY thing i add to my pool now is walmart bleach and a little borax every now and then. now i only spend a few minutes every few days just to test FC and adjust back up to around 15-16ppm. im spending around 15.00 per month on my pool and have crystal clear and balanced water!

PH and ALK stay stable at 7.4 and 110-120 and im only testing them once a week.... the pool ALMOST takes care of itself! LOL!

    thanks poolforum!

Yay!! Isn't it a great feeling when you can enjoy your pool instead of fighting it all summer!! Just don't get lazy about testing....it's going well now, and will continue to do so as long as you're diligent about testing..but with a high CYA, it's gonna be a real bummer to have to fight an algae bloom if you start slacking up!

no slacking here! i keep a log of date, time, readings, and what i added and how much EVERY time i test. this is all documented on a small note pad that stays in my taylor kit. i test for FC every 2-3 days, and PH and ALK once a week. at first i was testing every day, but since ive learned how my pool behaves im able to test as needed and save on reagents.

i thought i wanted to drop my CYA but i kinda like only adding bleach every few days! even then im usually adding less than a gallon to get me back around 15-16ppm FC.

    thanks aylad!

    Great job with your pool!!

That's why I like to run my CYA high, too--it sure makes it easier in a full sun environment!!
