    Default Skimmer

I need to replace my skimmer on a 30 foot round above gound pool can I do the without draining my pool. I know I have to drop the water below the skimmer but what I don't know is will the liner drop or pull down when I unbolt the skimmer ? Is there any thing I can do to keep the liner in place ? Have any of you guys replaced your skimmers ? Thanks for your help.

I've never had to replace a skimmer, but it shouldn't hurt the liner. When closing a pool for the winter, you drop the water level below the level of the return jet and skimmer and then refill back up in the spring, so I can't see how doing it to replace a skimmer would be any different.

+ It's much easier to answer your questions, when we have the details about your pool in one place. We often 'waste' the first few posts back and forth collecting information. So, please complete our new Pool Chart form -- it takes about 30 seconds, but will save much more than that.

+ Equipment questions can be hard to answer, without exact information. By far the easiest way for you to give us exact info, is with pictures. Try to get BOTH overall shots, and details. If possible include an *in-focus* photos of all equipment labels. You can either mail the pictures to poolforum@gmail.com OR post them directly using the [IMG][/IMG] tags to show the image on Photobucket, Webshots, Picasa, Flickr, or other non-porn photo host.
