Sand Filter vs Cartridge Filter

Well I added chlorine before I knew I had iron in the water so it is rust. It has settled down on the bottom of the pool. I could vacuum some of it but it would be eaiser to be able to filter it, backwash and filter again. I would rather the iron be out and not in solution.

I think if it were my pool, I'd try to vacuum to waste and get it out of the pool that way.
