    Default My First Post

    Hi everyone. I have been reading this forum for about a week now and feel as though I have already garnered a lot of information. We bought a pool and the pool place originally set us up with Pristine Blue. After researching that stuff and finding my way here via one of my best friends, Google, I immediately returned the Pristine Blue for Chlorine. So far, everything is going well. Still waiting on my test kit. Decided on the Taylor 2006 due to the information here so as soon as I get it, I'll post my test results.
    Our pool is a Celebrity 30 foot AG with 52" wall. Also bought a Wahoo Zodiac cleaner for it. Haven't used it but plan to hook it up as soon as I get the water balanced. So far the kids and wife are really loving it and I hope to be able to keep it crystal clear with the help of this forum.

    Thanks to everyone that helps out on this site. It is an invaluable resource for folks like me.

    Welcome to the Pool Forum! You sound like the kind of new member we like to have --- someone who does their homework! Good decision to return the Pristine Blue. That ws your first good decision. Buying the K-2006 was you second.

    Hope you find the forum beneficial and enjoy participating with us!

    No worries PoolDoc. I don't actually NEED help... yet. I'm still waiting on my test kit. Tracked it again today and it's due in tomorrow. I'll be testing my water with something better than my old reliable OTO test kit and posting the results when I get them. I may need some pointers once I get to that point but for now I'm just reading and filling my tiny little brain with the info from this site.

    Thanks again to everyone here that offers their time to help the rest of us. Lord knows I need all the help I can get. At least that's what my wife keeps telling me!

    And, we all know that wives are always right!

    Here is a link to some testing demos for the Taylor kit that you might benefit from watching while you are waiting on your kit to arrive.

    OK... Finally got my Taylor K2006 test kit. Below are my test results.
    FC=2
    CC=.4
    CYA=40
    PH=7.6
    TA=110
    CH=200

    I will be adding a gallon of GV 6% bleach tonight. Will test before bed and again when I get up and post results. To me, from what I've read, everything looks OK except the FC and CC levels. Hopefully, the gallon of bleach tonight will fix that and with my new test kit I'll be able to stay on top of it.
    If there's anything anybody sees that says otherwise, let me know.
    Thanks everybody!

    It all looks good, except that chlorine is a little low, as you've already noted. Get that up to the 3-6 range, and you should be in great shape. Happy swimming

    (Are y'all getting the same amount of rain there that we are in Shreveport? Make sure you don't neglect your testing--it's especially important when it's raining! )

    New test results from this morning:

    FC=3.6
    CC=.4

    Only thing that concerns me is the fact that the CC hasn't gone down. The one gallon I added last night upped my TC by 1.6ppm. I think I'll add another gallon this morning. That shouldn't keep anyone from swimming today and should get my FC up enough to hopefully clear out whatever is using the chlorine and keeping my CC up.

    Let me know if you see anything else I may need to do.

    aylad,
    Yes, it has been raining almost every evening here. We actually live near Hammond which is at the cross of I55 and I12. Glad it's here but wish it would stop. LOL!!!

    Just use the 10mL testing sample instead of the 25mL one so your testing reagents will last longer. Don't worry about a CC of 0.4.

    (I go near Hammond whenever I drive from my place to Houston.)
