Smile Testing water for first time this year

Hi everyone, it is another new pool season, yeah!! I have had my pool open since the end of May, and have had very few problems. I feel I have to retrain myself each year, smile! We have a 25,000 gallon, I think? inground vinyl pool that is 20 by 40. I just Now found my test kit, that was safely hidden from me in the house. So this is the first I tested it myself and took total control. My readings are: FC: 4.0, CC: 0.5, PH- 7.4-7.5, alkalinity- 60, CA 50, Calcium Hardness 60. I am thinking for one thing I need to put more stabilizer or clearifier ( they are the same, right?), in, that it needs to be higher? Also I don't see where you pay dues to belong, did they change the forum rules? thanks so much!!

When you say "CA 50", do you mean Cyanuric Acid, stabillizer, conditioner, CYA (all synonymous)? If so, your conditioner (CYA) level is fine for most pools. Keep it there for awhile, if you find you have to add chlorine more too often, then consider bringing it up.

As far as clarifier (not the same as stabilizer), few pools need it. Is your water clear? If it is, you don't need clarifier and if it's not, you probably don't need clarifier.

How do you chlorinate the pool? Bleach?

Your numbers look good to me. If your pool looks good, then; congrats! Keep the FC between 3ppm and 6ppm (stay near the high side and never let it go below 3ppm).

As far as your subscription, choose settings in the upper right hand corner then Paid Subscriptions from the menu at the left.

Thanks everyone! I meant Cyanuric Acid, sorry! Yes, our pool looks beautiful, just checking to see what others thought. I really haven't used any charts, and should. I just eyeball, and check the levels often. Put liquid chlorine in, that is what we use. Than I use the Muractic Acid to reduce PH, when it needs it. I have to reread things on here to see what levels are the best. I was looking at my book. thanks

    Digger,
It looks like you have come a long way from the 'pool beginner' you were last season! Glad to have you back with us this year!
