I can't help you with this but I'm gonna ask one of the other mods -- Poconos aka Al -- to take a crack at it.

When you take the pump apart, will the shaft turn by hand? How long did you have the leak?
Yes the shaft will turn by hand. I noticed the leak about a week ago. I think I have the electrical connections correct. The motor is an A.O. Smith. The terminal board has four connections plus a ground. I connected red wire to ' A 'terminal , black wire to 'B', white wire to 'L2" , and green to ground. Terminal L1 is free.
Does it hum, indicating there is power, or just sit there dead?
Jan beat me to it...I was going to ask the same thing. ANY indication of power? The wiring diagram should be somewhere, maybe inside the cover or certainly in the manual or on-line. Also make sure you didn't accidentally knock a connection loose like on the thermal breaker.

Found wiring diagram. Black wire to L1, red wire to L2, white wire to L1. No wiring diagram on motor. Used schematic from older A.O. Smith motor. Thank you all for your help.

Did you get it working?
