You'll be able to tell if it's new algae forming by testing your water at night and again in the morning before the sun is up. If you're losing chlorine during that time period, then you're still fighting stuff in the water.

If you had a bad algae bloom to begin with, odds are that the stuff you're accumulating is dead algae. Have you tried vac'ing to waste rather than to filter?

We generally stay away from clarifiers, because so many of them will give unpredicable results. If you can vac any of the stuff to waste, and if your filter is catching any of the stuff (is the pressure on your filter rising between filter cleanings?), we really recommend just being patient and letting the filter do its job. Unfortunately, the pool didn't get swampy overnight, and it's not going to clear quickly either...
