Hi All just joined the forum opened the pool today PH was low ,added some borax as usual then added some "bargain " algecide now the surface is all foamy , going to try to add some water and run the filter all night any suggestions

Cheap algaecides will do that.....I would shock the pool and let the filter do the rest...

yup all nighter with the filter and some new water and all is well no more "bargains"

Good! That is one of the main reasons we advise only using Polyquat 60% when you need to add algaecide. Foaming is a common side effect of other ones as you unfortunately learned the hard way! Glad it is getting better.
