Fill out the Pool Chart -- takes about 30 seconds:Pool Chart Entry FormAND . . . tell us what the test results on your pool are, and what the water looks and smells like.
In opening my pool, I am having trouble with my fingers "clogging" up quickly...the pool is fairly clear and I have washed the fingers with muriatic acid numerous times...Recently a pool chemical retailer told me to cut back drastically on the DE, but this has not solved my problem....the fingers are a few years old, and I had leaves in the pool which I cleared out....any suggestions?...Thank you in advance

If you do not degrease the fingers or grids in a DE filter before you acid wash them you can cause the stuff that is clogging them to harden into a cement like substance that can ruin the fingers or grids and one of the symptoms is a very fast rising filter pressure. You can even check on the Hayward Website FAQ where they say: "You should clean your grids once a year, or season, with a degreaser and if needed an acid bath." (emphsis mine).
