Sorry for the delay in responding
It sounds like a shaft seal leak and should be addressed SOONER than later! The water can get into the bearings and wreck the motor. I would advise you to change the shaft seal before too much damage is done.

ABSOLUTELY what Waste said!! I ignored that small leak I had last year--and it cost me a few hundred dollars and two weeks of a green pool at the beginning of this season until I got the new motor in to replace the one that could have been saved, had I bought the $7.00 part and spent the 20 minutes it takes to replace it....
Thanks for the responses! Called the company we bought from and they said we can swap the unit out under warranty. Just have to figure out a way to get it out of there without draining the pool a few inches.
