Default Hayward Ecostar - What speed / RPM setting should I use? Run time per day?

I just got my Hayward ecostar pump connected. That thing is quite. Have a few questions though,

what speed/RPM setting should I set it to?

How long should I run the pump during the day? It gets light at 6am and dark at 8pm.

Need to set up a time schedule to program into the built in timer, to be more energy efficient.

You may have put this in another thread, but, what size and type filter do you have? What size piping and inlet / outlet arrangement.

One warning, you have to set the auto prime feature to 3 minute prime for this pump to respect the max speed setting. On auto Prime, it will run at 3450 until it's happy that it's primed. You may not want it to push that much water through your system.

The most efficient speed will be around 1000 RPM but the flow rate may not be fast enough to get good skimming action so I would try it and see how it works out. Also, if you have a suction/pressure cleaner, that may dictate the lowest speed in order to work properly so some trial and error may be required.

Sorry, I didnt put this in my sig. It I have a 250lb Hayward Sand Filter. I cannot use it at 3450, it will blow out my pipes. I am running 1.5 inch. I have found a happy medium of 1350, but am not sure if this is enough.

Is there a quick setting, or certain speed that I should shoot for when trying to vacuum the pool. Thanks again for the help.

I don't think anyone was suggesting 3450 RPM but even if you did, it would not blow out your pipes. 1.5" schedule 40 is rated to 200 PSI.

I have found a happy medium of 1350, but am not sure if this is enough.
    Enough for what?

If your vacuum works at the speed, then use that. If not, then increase the speed until it starts to work. If it works at a lower speed that use that. There is no one perfect speed for everything, just use trial and error.

My main point was that efficiency wise, you want to get as close to 1000 RPM as possible but lower than that, the pump becomes less efficient.

I just want to make sure that you understand that the EcoStar will try to prime at 3450 unless you configure it for 3 minute prime and not auto-prime even though you've set a max speed.
