    Default Can't Raise my CYA

Hope everyone is doing well! Everything here is fine......but my cya.

When I first opened the pool it was fine at around 50. I ran out of the drops so I ordered a new large bottle from taylor and am wondering if it was defective. Since testing with the new agent I seem to have zero cya. I've put 2 containers in over a couple weeks and can't raise it. I'm thinking I willl bring a sample to the local pool store for them to check. Any idea's why I can't raise it?

    Thanks
    Cooper

I would get a reading from another source. It sounds like the reagent you got may be no good.

Let us know what you find.

[EDIT] I just saw this link in one of BigDave's posts. That kit is worth looking into (and I almost mentioned it, but haven't bought a kit from Wallyworld in ~4 years, so wasn't sure on the price or if they still carried it). [/EDIT]

From what I have learned here, whatever CYA you have added this season, it's in there... they usually have a dosage chart on the back of the container. You could do a backwards calculation from that to guesstimate how much cya you have.... I only tested once at opening. Then figured out how many ounces to add to raise mine up to 30ppm, added that, so no need to test it again...as I've been using primarily bleach and a few trichlor tabs in floater that will gradually raise it over the summer. Will only need to test again at closing.

At any rate, maybe you can get a replacement product from the company if it is defective :/
