Default Convert intex pool from 1.5 to 2" hose

I have the 15' Intex above ground pool. I have upgraded the pump to a sand filter and added a a SWCG. The pool has 1.5" hose connections and both the filter and SWCG have 2" connections. I can use the adapters that came with the filter, but I would like to convert the pool to 2" connectors.

I know that I have seen this done, any advice?

Not clear why you'd want to do that.

If you've attached a pump big enough to need 2" piping -- there's a high likelihood that you've created a 'can suck your guts out' sort of hazard. I mean this literally, as in "there are intestines in the pump basket"!!

The Intex is not designed, nor does it need, the sort of flow rates 2" piping will support.

Thanks for the reply PoolDoc. I will try and give a little more detail.

What I have is this pool.

It came with this filter/pump. My desire was to upgrade to a salt water chlorination system, so I purchased this swcg. Running the system I got nothing but low flow alerts, so fine I will upgrade my pump. I read up a bit, and got this pump (minus the chlorinator).

Although both have adapters for the original 1.5" hoses, and the system is working fine, I am wondering if it would work finer if I upgraded the pool ports to 2".

I might have the hose sizes wrong.

    1. It wouldn't work 'finer'.

    2. I think so, too.
