    Default New guy. NYS

    Hello all,
New guy here obviously. I live in western NY, house we bought 3 years ago came with a nice (albeit small) Gunite pool installed around ~1985. It's in good shape aside from some deck cracking around the skimmer. (we're actually getting that fixed in about a week.)

This our first pool and so far I've had good luck maintaining it. Only 1 algae bloom the first summer I opened it. I open it myself but we have someone close it in the fall.

Anyway, signed up here to get better at maintenance and due to the age of my mechanicals I'd like to keep on top of that stuff too.

    Welcome to the forum!!

There's plenty of good reading material around the forum, and at our sister site, PoolSolutions.com. Some of the more basic (but often asked) stuff is linked in my sig, if you're looking for a good place to start. If you have questions, feel free to post them!

    Happy swimming

    Welcome to The Forum!

I certainly don't want to cause you any extra worry but, it sounds like you have had a heaving issue. While the guys are out fixing the deck, see if they can improve the drainage around the pool, especially the skimmer side
