    Default ag start up

    I have a 35x18 AG pool, before I test my water, I would like to know what I can put in, or should put in rightwhen I take the pool cover off.
    Thanks
    Barry

    Hi Barry,

    There is no way to know what you need to put in the water until we know where you're starting from. So..go ahead and take the cover off, run a set of tests, and post them here along with what the water actually looks like, and we can help you go from there. Do you know what your stabilizer levels was last year at closing? That would be helpful to know, as well as what method of chlorination you use.

    Bleach or liquid chlorine. Everything else you pretty much need test results before adding
    18' round 7.5K gal AG vinyl pool; bleach; Hayward C900 cartridge filter; Hayward Power Flo Matrix 3/4HP pump; hrs; HTH 6-way test kit

    OK here is my numbers
    I opened it yesterday ran the filter all night, put in a gallon of liquid shock yesterday.
    test today: using HTH kit.
    Total chlorine = 5
    Ph = 7.5
    Alkalanity = 50
    but, the cyanuric acid test was nothing, I squeezed the whole bottle in the test tube, but I still seen the black dot at the botton. It was slightly cloudy, but i still seen it
    What should I add

    What is the volume of the pool? Your numbers look ok except you'll need to add some stabilizer. You may want to bump the alk up a little with some baking soda, but it is not critical.

    It is a 35x18 abpot 4 foot deep.
    How much stabizer and baking soda. It's been awhile
    also, I had a present for me when I took off the cover, a squirrel was at the bottom, when I took the net to get him out, he pretty much disinergrated on me, but got most of what was left of him in the net. we just vaccumed the pool. Should I put any thing else in to combat dead squirrel remains??
    Thanks
    Barry
    kids are in it right now, water is 63 degrees...ahh to be young again
