Default New Cell - False low salt

I just replaced my Aqua Rite T Cell15 with a Compupool generic replacement cell and now I cant get correct salt readings from the system. It reads 1200- 1400 ppm when the actutal level tests at 3400 ppm. I have done the recalibration (or taking the instantaneous reading) and it only reaches the above mentioned levels. I have noticed that when running through the diagnostics, the voltage is in the right range, but the amps run 3.3 to 3.6A. I have tested the voltage to the control board and it seems to be in range. Compupool claims that it is a control board problem, Hayward claims that it is a generic cell compatibility issue. I need some direction, please

I would remove the generic cell and try to return it before it is too late. The two companies will point fingers at each other until your warranty runs out and your wallet is empty.
