Built in 84 . . . the first thing to look for is a light wiring box ABOVE the pool water level, possibly under the diving board, or just outside the deck nearest the light. If you don't find the light wiring box (usually called a junction box), there's a good chance the light has been abandoned.

Wow...where does the time go, I posted this ages ago, went and took some pictures then got distracted...sorry!
I anyone has time for suggestions, here are some pictures I took that show the only electrical switches anywhere near the pool.
This seems most likey, light is bottom left an this inearest switch panel. It doesn't appear to do anything.
Close up of the switch, I should probably post one with the panel off shouldn't I...
Wider shot showing that switch and the only other one near the filter and pump shed
Any suggestions on how to find out where the light goes? Thanks!
