Default Replacing a Spa light with an LED?

The light in my spa has died, I was thinking of replacing it with an LED light. a) does it make sense to do? b) how hard is it? c) how much would it cost?

I have a Pentair control system with a Pentair Intelibright bulb already in my pool. But the put in a standard light for the spa.

My family likes to change the colors of the light, could I connect the light to the same control so it would change colors with the pool light.

It should be pretty much a drop in replacement to put in a Pentair Intellibrite 5g spa light (color led) http://www.pentairpool.com/pool-pro/...duct.php?id=74 as long as you have a pentair niche. I think you basically disconnect the old light from the wiring block, attach a fish line or cable to the wire, pull it out, the attach the fish line to the new light's cable. Pull it back and connect the new wires to the block. Someone else could probably walk you through it in more detail. There may be some more wiring involved since it sounds like your old pentair light wasn't already wired to that controller.

I replaced my pool light last year, but I hired someone to do the work for me.

Interesting, so I would need to pull out the existing fixture and replace the fixture plus fish the new power/control cord to the pool equipment. I guess I was hoping that the fixture just needed to be replaced and hooked up to the existing cord.

You end up replacing the cord because it's permanently wired into the light. I'm pretty sure it's that way for safety so there's no wire connections that get exposed to water.
