Default Solar cover help for unusually large pool

    Hi folks-
I have a fairly large "L" shaped pool. It's 20' across each end. The lond side is 46' long, and the short side is 36' long. Both main ends are full 10' radiused corners, giving each of the two ends a complete rounded look. I have a heat pump heater on it, and almost went broke heating the 42000 gallons without a solar cover. My question is, where can I get a solar cover big enough for this pool? I'm hoping to avoid having to use a 2 piece cover. Do I want to buy a cheap cover and replace it more often since they usually rip or break down, or do I want a better one with hopes that it would last? Do expensive ones insulate considerably better than cheap ones? Does blue, clear, black, or aluminized really matter? Also, I'm told that the cover will be too big for a reel. Is that true? Any ideas at all that anyone has on this subject would be GREATLY appreciated.

You're probably going to have to get 2 covers-one for each "leg". If you want to use a reel you will probably have to get 2 reels also. You could make it one big cover by using solar blanket tape, but it would probably be too heavy for a reel as one piece (you'd have to fold one of the "legs" over to create a rectangle in order to roll it up on the reel).

As far as which "type" of cover is better...I don't know. I've got a blue 12 mil and it keeps my pool a good 15 degrees warmer while the cover is on (at least on the top few inches of water...once we get it and stir it up the water temp falls about 8 degrees, but it's still warmer that it would be without a cover). No additional heater on our pool.
