Just curious--my new pump motor is a single-speed, switchless 1 HP motor from A.O. Smith. The sticker on the side with all the technical info states it as 1 HP. However, there's a large sticker stuck on the top of the motor that says, "Total horsepower=1.4".

What does that mean? Is it actually 1.4, or 1 HP?
