Ok, I think I understand your confusion. Pentair is phasing out the VS-3050 (011013) and is being replaced by the new "IntelliFlo® Variable Speed Pump" (011018). They have removed most of the VS-3050 information from their pump page listing and only is shown on the "Specs" tab of the VS+SVRS which I think is an oversite. But even thought VS-3050 shows up on that one page, the VS-3050 is a different pump than the VS+SVRS. They have different interfaces and different feature sets.

On the forums, I have only heard of a couple of failed drives but not many given the number of owners of the Intelliflo. It seems to be fairly reliable but I too have my concerns about the high power drive electronics. VFDs have been around for a number of years for other applications and have shown good reliablity although most are indoors or in a NEMA outdoor cabinet so this application is a little bit different. I guess only time will tell.
