Deep Heat Return System

We plan to build a pool this spring. One of the bids we received included an add/alternate price for a Deep heat return system. Priced at $2000.00
From what I've researched, the idea of warm water being pumped into the the bottom of the pool appears to be a good idea. Is there much labor and material involved in this installation in comparsion to having your standard drain at the bottom? Or is it simply the configuration of the pipes back at the pool equipment?

I like low returns in pools, especially if there is a heater on the pool.

The plumbing is straight forward and quite easy. It is, as you suspect, just another return line plumbed from the pool to the equipment pad, hopefully with a valve so you can adjust the flow.

$2000 is a little high but not obnoxiously so.

Forgive me but for $2k, I would think that the system has to be much more than just an extra lower return line and valve. The trench is already there so it is just the extra pipe and fittings plus an hour of work at most so it should be less than $500. They probably have something much more elaborate in mind.

A much cheaper alternative is use these returns with a standard return.

I just point one of my returns toward the bottom and it seems to have the same effect. The water gets pretty mixed up anyway so I can't detect any change in water temp with depth and I am not sure lowering the returns would be that much more effective.

Water is constantly being circulated up and down with low drains, skimmers and normal returns. Should be enough.

If this system is from Paramount, (hence the term used "Deep Heat") there are two to three returns in the floor in the form of pop up heads. These heads are then controlled by a water valve that alternates the return water between the regular returns and the pop up heads in the floor. That's where the money is going. Your pool builder takes your plans and sends them to Paramount where they design the deep heat system then the pool builder follows the design. Is it worth it? Honestly? I don't know. We sell more of the cleaning systems than these, that pretty much do the same thing, plus cleans your pool.

Let us know what the PB proposes and we'll help plan a pool that has a few low returns for a lot less than 2K

The PB did not specify a brand name with the deep heat system. However he did include a price for the Paramount fully automatic in floor cleaning system, for $5500.00
