Default I fixed my AG skimmer...with JB Weld

Hi. I just thought I'd post to let you know that I had some big cracks in my AG skimmer.
I was going to replace it, but that became complicated. I have a wide mouth skimmer, and I thought i could just replace the back part that was cracked, but found out later that i'd have to replace the whole thing for over $50.00

I just fixed it with JB Weld. Worked great......and it fixes almost anything.

Frank, would this JB Weld work on a pvc fitting? I have a 45 with a very tiny drip where the pipe goes into it. This would save cutting it out. Is it available in the "box" stores?

Here's another way that I've used successfully in the past. Take a flat file and square off the joint that's leaking. Take a piece of the same diameter pipe and cut a ring then slice it to make a collar. You can heat it with boiling water if you want for a better fit. Use primer and a good amount of glue. Slip the collar against the pipe joint and put a hose clamp on it until the glue sets for a few hours or preferrably overnight. If you need a complete 360 seal cut another piece to fill the gap and glue all at the same time. Make sure that all surfaces that butt are as square as possible.
