Need some advise on upgrade options for my compool cp-2000 controller.
Moved into our house 6 years ago and the existing pool equipment (cp-2000, de filter, solar panels, booster pump, 30k gal pool) have only needed minor fixes, until last week. The compool controller died, no lights, no pulse, just the time showing up on the in house wired panel.
As it's about ready to go to the Smithsonian, i guess it's time to upgrade/replace.
I see upgrade kits available for the system. to the newer Pentair systems which seem to allow me to keep existing wiring and servos. I also came across upgrade kits to other manufactures.
Can the forum provide advise on the pros/cons on going the upgrade route vs just shopping for a new control system. Cost is a consideration, and I would like to be able to do the work myself. In addition, I need to bear in mind that the following will also need to be upgraded soon - Pump (impeller leaking, want to goto variable speed, want to convert to salt water, existing valves and actuators are ANCIENT and will need replacement), ie: any new system needs to be accommodate these upgrades once I've found a buyer for my right kidney on e-bay.
All advise or offers on the kidney accepted.
