Default Buying natural gas htr for AGP.

Been researching gas pool heaters & have concluded that for $ & efficiency, the Jandy Legacy 325k btu model is our best bet. Does anyone out there have experience with this heater in particular or Jandy heaters in general?
We have a 21x43 AGP & live in southern Illinois & want to extend our pool season from late April thru Oct.

    Sorry, I don't.

Did you consider a heat pump instead? I understand they cost FAR less to run.

Also add in the cost of running a gas line to the heater when comparing the initial cost of gas heater to heat pump.

It's probably a lot cheaper to run the power to the heat pump rather than gas AND power to the gas heater.

But--it's your call. If you have a lot of "demand" heating, then you need gas. But if you intend to maintain the temp for that extra month, the heat pump may well be a better solution.

The gas heater I'm looking at is $1380 for Jandy 325K btu. The heat pumps I have priced are all over $3500+. Gas line install is only $300 & natural gas in our area is a pretty good value. I really considered the heat pump route, especially to cool the pool in July & Aug, but the difference in $ would take MANY years to be offset by the heat pumps better efficency. Thanks

    Great, Good luck!
I can't get a plumber to the door for $300.

I can, but if he hands me the newspaper on the stoop it's another $75!
