    Default Pool leak question

I have a 16x32 inground vinyl liner pool that is loosing about 2" of water per week. I am in Buffalo,NY and would like to close soon and deal with this leaking problem in the spring. Can anyone tell me if I run the danger of my pool walls collapsing or other problems if I loose too much water over the winter .

    Thanks for your help.

If it's a plumbing leak, there is no danger at all in closing the pool.

If it's a liner leak, you may well regret closing the pool before solving the issue - in the best case, you'd need to replace the liner, in the worst (though unlikely) you could end up with wall issues, come next spring.

I would do the bucket test, combined with a vessel test to see where the issue is before closing.

If you need help on performing these tests, just give a holler

I did the tests and have pretty much concluded that I must have a leak in a line. The pool leaks much more when the pump is running than when it is turned off. I think I've seen a post on how to build a homemade pressure tester but I cant' find it now. If you know where I can find I would appreciate.

    thanks for your help.

    Ted,

Thanks much for your help. The pressure tester thread is exactly what I am looking for. Don't know if I will get to test the lines until spring now because the leaves are starting to fall and I need to get closed so it will be a while before I can give an update. Thanks again.
