How do I test for metals in water?

I am having an issue with a slight green tint to my pool. I opened a week ago and the pool has been clear util I put the recommended dosing of bleach in yesterday. It is at shock level of 15ppm. All other #'s are good. Maybe the bleach is reacting with metals in water. How do I test for metals?

Just off the top of my head, I know my local pool store is able to test for copper. Can't recall if they test for iron, though. I do know they have some kind of Taylor reagent you can purchase that will test for iron.

Your posts are difficult to follow. Your first post indicated a slightly green tint to your water. Then you replied it was more like red. Now, it is apparently back green again. Is that correct??

I am sorry for the confusion D. In low light the water haas a somewhat amber tint against the blue liner. The tint is actually a greenis color. The pool was clear until I added the bleach. So I am thinking there is copper content in the water. I am having it tested today.

Lower your water a little, check to see if there is any staining on your pool. Blue and yellow make green - I had this happen in my pool - I thought that the water was green, but when I lowered the water I noticed that my whole pool was tinted yellow from staining - so this is just a suggestion. If it is staining we can tell you how to get rid of it.
