Here's my problem. (I'm writing this on Sunday 8/21/11)
Last Wednesday when I got home from work at about 4PM I saw that my pool pump (which is controlled by the Pool Pilot) was not running.

I could see there was power to the Pool Pilot, as the green characters on its display were present, but it would not respond to pressing its buttons.

Intermittent behavior followed. When I turned the circuit breakers off and then on, the pump would start and run for 5 seconds or so. Then it would stop and become unresponsive again to pressing buttons.

I called the phone number that had been left by the subcontractor who installed the Pool Pilot when my pool was rebuilt in 2008, and he came by on Friday.

He told me late Friday that the front circuit board was bad and some of the capacitors on the power circuit board were swollen. His advice was to replace the entire Control Box, for a total cost of about $800 - $850.

I asked him to first come back and rewire the pool pump so that it was controlled by the clock timer he had installed back in 2008. I wanted the pump to be able to keep circulating the pool water while I had a little more time to decide what to do. He said he can & will do that, and he'd come by tomorrow Monday 8/22.

Out of curiosity, a little after 4pm today I turned all the breakers off and then on. After 5 or 10 seconds the pump was running and after 40 or 50 seconds water was circulating again. I hesitated to change or even check any settings, but the "Test Pool Pilot" display showed 3300 ppm, and 93F, and 11:21 am.
Now at about 6PM it is still running.

Again, out of curiosity, I opened the control box and found that the little fans were not running.

I wonder if it just overheated and stopped working because the fans are not running?

Can anyone offer help or advice about what needs to be fixed?
