Default (New User) Hayward 1 HP Super Pump no start

I returned from Africa to a pump that will not start. It has power and is properly grounded. The impeller turns freely. The pump is 2 years old. I have read about cleaning contacts but without a picture I cannot find what I need to clean.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!!

I can't answer your question...however, the equipment gurus around here should be by shortly and hopefully they can get you an answer. I just wanted you to know that your post has been read, and to welcome you to the group!

    Welcome to the forum.
One question right now.....when power is on is it makine any noise at all like a hum? If you hear absolutely nothing then it's not the centrifugal switch contacts that you mention. Also, when was it run last? If it's making no noise at all and it hasn't been run in a long time then I would suspect a poor, read corroded, connection somewhere. Maybe in the back of the morot where the wires connect to it.

Edit: Here's a pic of the back of my superpump 1997 vintage.

Starting capacitor on the left, centrifugal starting contacts like an inverted V in the middle, terminal block on the right, thermal cutout top-middle. The centrifugal weights and springs (one showing) right behind the contacts spin with the rotor.
