    Default Crack in Steps

Hey, I've discovered a fairly substantial crack in my plastic/vinyl steps. It's skinny and about 1.5" long. Any suggestions on how to best patch this? I looked for a previous post on the topic, but couldn't find it. If it's out there, sorry for the duplication, and please just point me to it.

    Thanks, A

I used this product ... you cut a piece off and knead it together until its mixed and then press it into the crack. I roughed up the surrounding area with a sandpaper sponge block. Works well but needs re-doing periodically dependent on people stepping on it etc. Look for it at the hardware store or CTC if you're in Canada.

Wondering if water is actually leaking at the crack? My 35 year old steps in my Foxxx IG pool have quite a few cracks and look pretty bad but are not leaking. In still water, no pump running, try a little dye right at the crack. For this iny area you can use food dye or even the phenol red pH reagent. Just a couple drops is all you should need. If I get ambitious later I'll post a couple pics.

@Poconos: Thanks for the suggestion, I will try the dye test. I do have a leak in my pump motor that I cannot see, but I am fairly certain this crack is leaking because I have let the pool go all day (10-12 hrs.) without the pump running and am still losing a significant amount of water. I have also searched the liner for any holes/leaks and cannot find any.

@SalemCastles: I found this epoxy on Amazon and will order if the dye test proves positive.

Thanks for the help. I'll let you know what happens.

Hope it works out OK. From what you say the dye getting sucked in should be obvious. Squirt the dye right at the crack. For your shallow depth you can probably use an eyedropper or a basting syringe or something similar.
    Keep us informed.

Ended up using a couple of drops of the pH reagent, and it got sucked up immediately. So, finally got the Loctite underwater epoxy recommended by SalemCastles and it seems to be working like a charm. It didn't go on as smoothly as I had hoped, but considering I was working underwater, I can't expect perfection, right?

    Thanks again guys ...
