Thanks folks. I too have been in the hope it works school, but the more I find out the more skeptical I get. Our summer has been high temp and high humidity with evaporation rates close to 1/2"/day. I guess that the small amount I'm having may well be just evaporation or measuring error.

I don't think 1/2" daily is excessive, in the kind of heat we're having this summer. Have you tried the bucket test? Put some of the pool water in a bucket, set it on the step, mark the levels of water in the pool and in the bucket, then check again the next day--if the pool level dropped further than the level in the bucket, then it's not evaporation...

Thanks Janet- I did do the bucket test early on and the results were identical. That's my dilemma. I think I'll just go with the loss until (or if) it gets larger.
