    Default New Pool

Hello everyone, nice informative site here. We are having our first pool delivered on Thursday, a 15' x 30' x 54. I'm struggling with sand vs cart. filter, but from reading here that seems to be like asking what kind of oil to use in your car or boat. I'm going with the cart. filter.

    Again, nice forum.

Hi Harsenislander and welcome to the Pool Forum. You are right about the filters. Everyone will have an opinion. Cartridges do give good filtration but are just kind of a lot of trouble to clean and expensive to replace. Sand is the easiest to maintain. Cleaning them is as easy as turning a handle a couple of times. Takes about two minutes.

At any rate, congrats on the new pool. We'll be glad to help you get it up and running. I would suggest going ahead and ordering a good test kit. The one we recommend is the Taylor K-2006 or 2006C (same kit, larger bottle of some reagents). If you buy it through the Amazon link in my signature, the Pool Forum makes a little money on the sale which helps us keep this form online. Only buy if the seller is Amato Industries, however. Some other sellers are substituting the K-2005 which you do NOT want. If Amato isn't listed, wait a day or two and try again. They seem to restock pretty quickly when they sell out. Having that kit will make your pool maintenance SO much easier!

Again, welcome. Glad to have you join us!
