Today in the heat (108 today), when I flicked the switch, my pool pump motor started humming for about 15 seconds then turned off. The switch for the pump then would do nothing. I waited 2 minutes, and it started humming again after switching on. Same story.
I opened up the strainer and filled it full of water. I waited about 5 minutes and flicked the motor back on. This time it hummed for 5 seconds, then started priming. It primed right up but sounded really weird, like it was working overly hard.
After about 5 minutes it went back to its normal sound when primed. I then vacuumed my pool and waited an hour with it on. After turning it off, it fires right back up again without the humming.
Is the motor going bad or something that I can fix?
