clear, but greenish -- algae or something metallic?

I've been dealing with recent increase to green, but clear. So, looking for help.
32k water, vinyl, cartridge, 20 x 40.
fc keeping at 7, adding about a gallon 12% every other day; cya 95,tc 7, alk 210, ph 7.6 and stable right now looks like ch is bet 275-300, fas-dpd test kit. have not needed to shocked for a while, testing a a lot,
not using well water to top off. have been using a algecide. maybe 1/2 g a week (no copper additive)
have not noticed typical algae symptoms of sliminess, doin lotsa brushing. might be little higher on phosphates, but that's only based on store input, using 3 caps week of the usual brand. thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Try shocking your pool up to 20-25. With a CYA of 95, your chlorine at 7 may be just a little on the low side, particularly if it may at times drop a little below that. (See the Best Guess Chlorine Chart in my signature below if you haven't already read it.) It could just be that you have some algae trying to get started even though you can't see any signs of it yet. Go ahead and shock it up and try and hold it at that high level. If you can go from sundown one evening til within 2 hours of sunrise the next day without losing more than 1ppm of cl, then you'll know you don't have an algae issue. Run the pump 24/7 while you are trying to clear the pool and clean your filter as needed. Report back in the morning after you try the overnight test.

BTW -- The only type of algaecide we recommend is Polyquat 60%. We don't recommend using any other types.

One last thing. Do us a favor, please. To make it easier for us to help, if people will create a signature line with their pool specs, it keeps us from having to reread through posts to find out basic information. thanks for the tip, will follow advice. can people swim (using old bathing suits, of course) if fc is in the 25 ppm range?
gonna be pretty hot in the northeast in the next few days.

For most people, swimming in chlorine at that level is not a problem but do wear the old suits of course.
