I have the nature 2 and have been using it for three years. I know the opinions on here, not looking for more, just have a question.

I see people saying just take the cartridge out while the pump is running, but if I do that, water shoots out of where the cartridge is screwed in so that is definitely not an option.....

I've started using bleach and baking soda, for chlorine and adjusting ta with no issues, but should i be concerned for this year doing this with the nature2?

I will take it off next year, but not looking to take apart the plumbing on my filter during prime pool season ..

If you have to shock your pool, watch carefully for any water color changes that would indicate copper levels being too high, or bve aware of anybody complaining of green hair and fingernails--that's a sign that the copper is precipitating out of the water and staining things in your pool In that case, you need to treat the water with a metal sequestrant to keep the metals in suspension so they won't stain hair or your pool.l

Now that you mention, I am noticing a slight orange in the skimmer throat and on the eyeball. What do you think that might be, is the copper always green?

Where would I buy a sequestrant? Is the shock causing the nature 2 to do this?

Sorry I've missed this thread--hoping that you're still around!

The orange is usually more indicative of iron than copper--do you have any iron content in your water? As far as I know, the copper is always either blue or green.

The shock isn't necessarily causing the nature 2 to stain the water, exactly...the nature 2 works by adding the minerals to the water, but the shocking is causing the minerals to precipitate out. That's the main reason we don't recommend that people use nature 2, because it causes problems like this. Metal sequestrants can be found at the pool store, not sure if you can get them at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.. I'm not an expert on metals, but Marie and PoolDoc are, and they've recommended Jack's Metal Magic, Metal Out, etc.
