Default Using Clorox to raise Free Chlorine

We've had some signifcant rain and the FC level in my 8500 gal. vinyl inground pool in at 2.8. I'd like to raise the level to about 3.5. Can I use regular Clorox to raise it? If so, how much is recommended?

Other question is the pool has a Pentair InteliChlor SWG set at 20%. Instead of the Clorox, should I just increase the % on the SWG to get the Chlorine up?

    Thanks

In an 8500 gallon pool, 2.25 cups of 6% bleach will raise your FC by 1 ppm, and certainly is a good way to raise chlorine in your pool--but if you don't have an excessive chlorine demand that needs to be met by shocking, why don't you just let the SWCG take care of it?

I'm curious--what testing method are you using to get your chlorine levels?

I'm using a LaMotte ColorQ Test kit to measure all the pool water levels. I think I will let the SWG take care of it because i don't have a high swimmer load, etc.

For the record, my levels are:
FCl: 2.4 (error in my original post)
    TCl: 2.8
    pH: 7.5
    Alk: 130
    CH: 177
    CYA: 61
