    Default Gladon Perfect Pool Bottom

Short time reader, first time poster.

I am preparing to set up my first AG pool, an 18’ round with J-beaded liner. My question is this: the instructions state that after setting up the base rail, spread 2” of brick sand over the whole area. It also states that instead of sand you can use 1” or 1 ½” foam. I intended on using the Gladon perfect pool bottom and cove. However the perfect pool bottom is only about 1/32” of an inch thick. Do I still need to add the sand? I am concerned that the beaded liner will not fit without the extra 1-2” of sand. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Todd The pool bottom should go on a base of sand. It is so thin rocks could easily poke through. Be sure and pile the sand in the middle of the pool and spread out only after the wall is up and secure. Pack it good as you will probably cause footprints when installing the bottom pad.

    Best of luck, Dennis

You'll get a good amount of stretch in a jmold liner, on my 30 foot pool, I built up a 3" base of screening s for teh wall to sit on, and the sand in teh pool is even with the base rail - however, I sloped it down towards the center, so teh middle of my pool is actually 8"-10" deeper - could have gone more, but didn't know that before the install - I really don't think 2" matters here or there...
