Question New (used) pool, out of round?

Hi folks, been lurking here for a few weeks while getting up and running and now I have a question..

I recently obtained a 10 year old 24' above ground pool (52" wall) from a friend at work. I worked with him for the tear-down so we'd know how it all went back together on this end... Bought a new liner, etc, etc.

Anyhow, the install went pretty well, with the exception of the yard not being nearly as level once cleared of sod as it appeared prior (shocking, I know) and a large (2'x2'x4') concrete iceberg buried just beneath the surface we had to dig out and move... We got everything leveled within 1/2", all the pavers down and set right, but were running out of light on the last night while installing the liner.. We just couldn't figure out why it didn't seem to fit as well as we thought it should, seemed like it didn't have much slack on two sides, and had extra slack on the other two (yeah, yeah, I know, obvious now, it was dark and we were tired then)..

So, after getting it filled I threw a tape on it and figured out that I'm 'oval' by about 4", no more than that.
How big of an issue is this? All of the uprights are still on the pavers well (no overhang at all) and everything runs just fine, I just have more overlap of the liner on two sides than I do on the opposite two sides..... At this point I have it filled and in use, but I'm looking to see what sort of problems, if any, this may cause me in the future..
Is it worth tearing down to fix this, or do I just deal with it the next time I have to replace the liner?

Trying to reuse a 10 year old liner? That's a recipe for trouble. Also it sounds like you were tired, it was late, it was dark and you rushed the install...
I'd bet those two things are the source of your trouble.

No, no, the liner is brand new :-)

However, I agree on the tired/late/rushed being the main culprit on it being out of round... But, the new liner holds fine and nothing is having any issues (except for having more overlap in some places than others).. Just trying to see what sort of issues I can expect, if any, in the future due to the install issue.

You should be able to re-install a new liner. It's when they've been in the pool for years it becomes a high-risk act.

Thanks Carl, I guess the real question is, should I feel the need to drain the pool, fix the slight 'oval' shape, then re-install the liner and re-fill the pool just because of this? I mean, what sort of problems would this cause assuming everything else is OK?

Don't get me wrong, if I need to fix it I will, but if it won't really hurt anything I'd probably hold off until next season.. I just really don't know.
