Default Why would ph continue to go up?

Even when I have put a gallon of muraictic acid in the 24,000 pool in the last two days? ph was 8.0 and i assumed it would go to 7.4 or so but it was 8.3 a few minutes ago. chlorine is also up even though i have not shocked in several days. i do have 3" tablets and 1-2 have disolved in the last 5 days.

Is this a new gunite pool by any chance? Do you have a SWCG? Tell us about your pool - what type, what type of filter, volume. And, also give us a complete set of current water testing results and tell us what all you have added to your pool -- meaning ingredients. What type of kit are you testing with?

Welcome to the Pool Forum! Hope you enjoy being a part of our little pool community!

We'll also need to know if you have any "water features" (aeration of water raises pH). I'l bet also your Total Alkalinity (T/A) is very, very high.

It is a gunite pool.. It's not new but I just drained it and had a guy fix some tile issues and he acid washed the whole pool. I do have a spa waterfall and a sta-rite filter. Will report readings later tonight. Ph was down yesterday. alkalinity has been around 110-120. Thanks
